Snow White’s Christmas Plans

Salutations! I am surrounded by good cheer in the Dwarf’s snug little cottage as I write to you. They have a fire crackling and are all in the upstairs room arguing over what to cook me for Christmas dinner. Such dear little things! I have insisted that they accompany me when I go caroling to the animals in the wood on Christmas Eve. Grumpy is a bit reluctant, but I’m sure he’ll come around. When we return from caroling, I intend to have all the sweet little men sit down so I can read them the Christmas story by the fire. Not the story of Saint Nicholas mind you, but the story of the birth of Jesus. We shall have such a merry time of celebration that night, with dancing and singing into the wee hours of morning. Sadly, there isn’t enough room in the little house for both merry dancing and a Christmas tree. So, we have set our minds to pretending that one of the fir trees outside is our Christmas tree, and the glorious, sparkling snow, its ornaments. Doesn’t it sound just lovely? Oh! But I must go now, the hot chocolate is bubbling in the kitchen and I can’t let it dance out of the pot!

Farewell, and Merry Christmas dear ones!

Merry Christmas from Belle

Hello everyone!

First of all, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas!!! Also, I thought I’d take a minute to share with you all one of the biggest Christmas traditions my prince and I have. You’ve probably seen how tall the ceilings are in our castle, right? Well we take advantage of those high ceilings, and get the biggest Christmas tree we can find!!! Everyone in the castle helps out decorating it- Lumiere handles the lights, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip throw on the tinsel, and my prince and I get the ornaments! Once we get the tree decorated, we all gather around it and sing any Christmas songs we can remember. It’s always a great time! Well, I have to go now. It’s almost Chip’s bedtime, and I promised Mrs. Potts that I would read him a story tonight.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Love,

Belle

Out of this World Party

How to have an Out of this World Party

By Jennifer Auer, Imagination Specialist,

Fairytale Entertainment, LLC

First you need to start with a pretty amazing invitation. You need to get your guest list excited about your party by letting them know your theme and the fun you have planned.

Invitations

When we created our invitations we used lots of clipart of astronauts and rocketships printed onto white paper. You could also print out the details on white paper and then attach that to colored paper cut in the shape of a rocketship or comet or something similar. Invitees were told they were selected as part of a special crew for a mission to the planet of Auer (our last name). Inside the invitation, they learned their objective was to help the birthday child, Lieutenant Nicholas have a Happy 5th Birthday. They were to report to duty at the date of the party. With the countdown beginning at the party start time. Their return to Earth was the party ending time. The Launch Site and coordinates were listed as the party location.  Lastly, guests were told to communicate with the commanders (parents) at Mission Control to confirm their flight readiness (ability to come to the party).

Decorations

Decorations can be done very inexpensively. Convert recycled containers into rocketships with paints and construction paper and hang them from the ceiling in various locations. (For more ideas about how to do that email fairytaleentertainment@comcast.net) Cardboard can be cut into stars, comets, and moons. Then cover with aluminum foil for a shimmery effect before hanging. A large orange posterboard can be shaped and hung from a wall to create the illusion of the sun. Planets can be created from Styrofoam balls or anything sphere-shape.  We also placed stars covered with glitter everywhere.

The Cake

I can’t take credit for the cake idea I used. I found it in the book Perfect Kids’ Parties. If you bake a 13×9 cake and cut a curve edge of the left and right side, you can then place those cut pieces at the bottom of the cake to give the appearance of a rocketship. Then frost and decorate as you please. When you are ready to serve, place cool whip at the base of your rocket. Then streak streams of red and yellow food coloring through it. This will give the appearance of fire shooting out of your rocketship.

The Party Itself

Since our guests were essentially Astronauts in Training for a mission, the party became a series of tests, challenges, and activities to prepare them for being an astronaut. First they created rocketships with paper, crayons, stickers, and glue. Then, they collected moon rocks, which they got to paint. Before moving on they needed to refuel so each astronaut made a moon pizza (basically a pizza bagel, they added the cheese, sauce, and any toppings.) Then, they practiced launching rocketships and testing if they would land safely and they practiced catching comets. For our launching rocket simulation we used a sports ball as a rocket and the children threw it into a baby pool of water. If no splash was created the rocket had landed safely. The catching comet game involves children playing tag. A few children have comets (tennis balls) attached to them. The tennis ball has many ribbons on it. When you say start the children begin playing, trying to collect the comet streams from the comets. The child that has collected the most ribbons has caught the most comets. Finally, the astronauts visited a healthy snack bar and assembled snack packs for their return trip to earth.

One of the best things about this party is that the kids were creating and collecting things along the way. There was no need for a goodie bag. No need to buy candy that isn’t good for them. No need to buy cheap toys that break too soon. Each child was given a bag that they filled with their rocketship, moon rocks, and snack bag, more than enough stuff to send a child home with after a party. The only thing that didn’t fit in the bag were the memories, much too big, and certainly meant to last long after their completed mission.

Antoinette’s 4th Birthday

Cinderella with Antointte pic 1I had a great time at Antoinette’s party! Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time at the playroom; it was a lot of fun. When I got back to the castle, I couldn’t stop talking about it to my prince! All the little kids seemed to like throwing the balls at me in the ballpit! We all had fun throwing them at each other and taking pictures before I had to leave. A couple of them needed my help when they were stuck so I saved them from being buried under the play balls. I loved the cake; it had a whole bunch of princesses on it! I sure hope it tasted just as delicious as it looked! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did; I was delighted to be there!

Love
